The early days of gold mining in the Region were defined by a peculiar method known as sluicing. Originating from the requirement to extract valuable minerals from the densely packed riverbeds, sluicing became as a common practice. Astute miners would fabricate elaborate sluice boxes, carefully guiding the river water to wash away the excess sed
